Today, I have to post but I'll make it short. My driving around the Countryside and our new kitten are both exhausting ! It's 2 pm and right after posting, I'll have a nap before picking-up at 4 if I want to be able to handle baths and dinner time.
We have a new kitten , 6 months old and she is very funny, cute, smart and affectionate but she has this thing about waking up at 4 am...she starts purring and "hugging us" and she needs to show her affection for 10 minutes. Now that Mister Son stopped coming at 5 am, she's the one that reduces my sleep time. As I am cutting down caffeine, you can imagine how hard it is for me. Lucky that I don't work in an office !!
About the Countryside, I went 30 minutes away from our place this morning and it was like going to a different planet. I am not used to that long driving (mostly highways) and maybe you know how French people drive, that's the most tiring part of the driving !! What I saw was ok but still, I am not convinced we are looking in the perfect area. Since I saw Civil Action, I am very concerned by environment so I need the place to be "all clean" as says my daughter about the way she wants her pastas ! I also want a nice neighborhood, good schools, nice shops. My husband just want his house !!
I know that recession is coming our way so we need to be cautious about how much we will put into that house so that makes my search even more tricky !

The Magical Land
I know, I should post more often if I want to enjoy my almost new blogging experience.
I had a hectic week, I'd say "as usual" .
When I started this blog, I decided I'd organize my time to be able to blog, shop, read and exercise. I haven't done any...except for reading. I started "the secret language of children", fascinating !
For the rest of my "free" time (I mean without my lovely children, 6 hours a day !), I drove all around the countryside for days, looking for the Magical Land to build our nice house. I visited a few small villages, talked with dozens real estate agents, went on websites to check about contamination and other nice stuff you don;t want to live around, etc. It was exhausting, especially the driving part. But that was good because 6 months into our project, we might have found the Magical Land. We'll have a new look at it tomorrow. It has a huge fantastic view over wheat fields but it's still in the village. We are not that far from malls or the city. However, the view is great but I am scared it could be the opposite. I love nature, I love countryside...but on week-ends. As you know, I'll work from home. Will I get enough inspiration and excitation with this flat view ?? Is that so important ?
I know I am a city girl but I also like being in my backyard with nature noises, birds chirping and wind in the trees...I love shopping, going to the library, looking for trends, finding new stores...will I survive ?

My Hubby and Blogs
Hello !
What an ironic question I asked last week...I couldn't find a moment to blog since then !!!
Ok, I worked a lot in the house and also out of the house. But this will be the subject of another post.
Right now, I have a question : what are the relations your hubby has with your blog ? Does he know its existence, does he read it, does he have one, what does he think about blogs in general ?
My hubby didn't know much about blogs. He only thought they were like private/public diaries you could find somewhere on the web. Since I told him I had one, we had quite a discussion about it. I am not sure I was succesful at presenting him the blog concept attractive. For what I guess, me blogging is like me reading any women magazines...futile and girlish.
Anyway, I will keep blogging.
BTW, how do you talk about other's blog ? Do you just add the link of their blogs on the side of yours of is there a special etiquette ??

Time for your blog
Hi there !
I just have 10 minutes from my bedtime so my post is going to be really short ! One simple and easy question : when is the best time for you to blog, read other blogs and how long to you spend on it (daily) ?
Thanks !!

A date
I haven't blogged in ages ! Since then, a lot of subjects were worth a post, except that lack of time and headaches kept me away from my computer.
Today I spent almost 3 hours in a Toy store (but a nice one if you know what I mean !) looking for the perfect birthday gift for my soon-to-be 3-year old and spending a gift card on scrapbooking materials. The music was everywhere in the store but not the same in each area...and way too loud. So I still have a headache so I will certainly make 2 posts (the second one after ny headache is gone !).
After a nice night out with a Mom Friend of mine, I decided to also apply the "get a date with your husband at least once a month" mom 2nd commandment (spell?)so I emailed my hubby a nice Evite (with 2 hearts touching each other, very girly !) for a date together on Saturday night. He was assigned the meal while I took care of the wine and putting the kids on bed on time.
Honestly,it was one of our best dates since we are together (12 years !!). We dressed the table nicely, put some candles, the wine was great, his choice of dinner was good. We had coffee lying on the sofa, talking as we were 12 years ago (new lovers, no kids !) and talking about nothing serious like our projects or the kids. We gossiped and laughed. It was great ! So we are going to do it again and the sooner, the better.
Of course, that didn't prevent me from saying nice stuffs to me on the following morning (like "you snored all night" or "could you please put down your book so I can have some sleep, pleaaaase") but maybe after the fourth or fifth date, we will start to look at each other differently...well, I hope so !

Moms Night Out
Today, I had a call from a friend I haven't seen in 6 months. We agreed a month ago to go out together on the 21th, today. We haven't talk since then and I thought she was still out of town (she is a teacher and we are on Spring break).
I found something strange about moms night out : I made the resolution 2 years ago to absolutely go out with my girlfriends once a month. We all agreed that it looks like a tough resolution but it was worth making it. Without comittment, we'd never do it and months and years will pass...Since then, the results are pathetic : I just went out once, and I had to push me to. Ok it was for my birthday (why I don't like celebrating my birthday since I am over 35 ??!!) and it was freezing outside (0F). My one-year old was cranky and my hubby moody. Why did I find so many excuses instead of just going out and enjoy having fun like a (single) grown-up woman ??
Anyway, the Spanish restaurant I found was great. Ok, we got lost for 15 minutes, froze for 5 but the food was good and after that, I ended up talking with one of my friend until 2 a.m at her place (something I haven't done since I am a mom).
So 1 year and a few months after, again : Mister Son is having a bad cold, I didn't have time to check what's playing on theaters and...so well, I took my cell phone and called my friend. Guess what I told her ? "I'll be at your place at 7 and we'll have a drink before going out to a nice restaurant" ! So the pastas for the kids tonight are on their way....jeez, I forgot the pastas on the stove !!!!

Here we are, ready to go !
Hello !
I am going to send a few emails to my friends and spread the blog idea. I hope my friends, that you won't be shy and that you will participate !
What's new today ? As yesterday, it's almost the end of the afternoon and I can't think about any thing productive I could have done !!
We took care of Miss Daughter this morning : she went to the hairdresser and then, had a doctor appointment. I was worried about her cough, especially now that our cat doesn't sleep with her anymore (I will tell you more about our cat, in a few moments). She gave her an asthma treatment for a week. It should help her hopefully get a good night sleep (and me too) but I am seriously freaking out about that !! Miss Daughter, an asthmatic child...
About our cat, now. I feel quite better so I guess it's time I spread the (sad) news. Our cat got really sick last September and it was like a stomach bug that we couldn't cure. It was tough giving her the medicine (yucky ones, BTW) and she couldn't hold any food. After 24 hours, I brought her back to the vet and they kept her for 36 hours with an (intravenous) to rehydrate and feed her. After that, she was ok.
A few days before last week-end, she started leaving food in her plate. She is always pretty hungry so I noticed it. During the week-end, she barely ate, I didn't like it. I hold her on Monday in my arms and I was shocked by her weight. It was like nothing. I ran to the vet, we made x-rays. There was a couple of bad spots, the vet wanted to make an ultra-sound to check on those dark spots....Tumor in her (intestines)...
Next morning, I am back at the vet clinic with my dear friend. Last night, I explained to her how bad it was (even if we didn't how yet exactly how bad it was) and what were our options. I didn't want to say goodbye to her because I felt terrible. I even let her slept where she wanted. I couldn't imagine it was her last night with us.
45 minutes after leaving her, the vet called me. The tumor is huge, 2 inches * 3 inches. Only 2 options : not waking her up, letting her rest or taking a (slight) chance and trying to remove the tumor. It could spread again, she could only have a few months left and she could also not survive the operation : "30%", he told me. How can you possibly have to face something like that suddenly ? I decided to go for it.
At 12:30, she's fine and recovering. At 5, we visit her with the kids. She was alert and screamed to me her discomfort (or something else ?). We talked with her and pet her for a long time. We were supposed to see her next morning.
At 5:30 the next morning, something woke me up. My black sweater on the bed made me think of her. Is that a sign of something or did I just get enough sleep ? I had breakfast and went back to bed. At 7:49, my cell phone rung, the vet "I am sorry but I think she's passing away". I quickly got dressed and made the 8 minute-ride as fast as I could. I ran in the streets hoping she would wait for me. I missed her , 4 minutes. She is gone, for real, my sweet little furry friend of 13 hectic years. She left us on Valentine's day.
It's only now that I feel not too bad. The following days were so dark. I felt really sad, crying a lot, angry and devastated. I never thought I would react that intense.
Miss Daughter was also very sad, she cried with me the first days. Mister Son is too young but I guess he knows what happened. Since then, he's been pretty much cranky. I don't think he fully understood the concept of death but he does know that he won't see her anymore. Miss Daughter worries me : she keeps using the words "death" or " he's dead" or "I'll be dead" all the time for pretty much anything. She's been doing that for 2 weeks or so. The day our cat died, she had a lot of questions like "where is she now ?", "can we go visit her over there ?", "can we bring her back ?", etc.
There was a poster on the doctor's door this morning about (orthoptie) with a drawing of a kid with a patch on his eye. Mister Son asked "what's that ?" and Miss Daughter answered right away : "it's a kid who's going to die". The doctor said "sure, that's it". I was shocked. Maybe I am overeacting ? Maybe she is just trying to attract my attention ?
I talked about it in the car but I am not I should have. I explained that death wasn't something to make fun of it. Because it's serious, because it has to do with other people sadness. She has a friend at school who lost her mother so I told her "do you think she would be happy if you talk like that in front of her". I made my point but I am not sure I handled this "case" the right way.
What do you think ?
