Here we are, ready to go !

Hello !
I am going to send a few emails to my friends and spread the blog idea. I hope my friends, that you won't be shy and that you will participate !

What's new today ? As yesterday, it's almost the end of the afternoon and I can't think about any thing productive I could have done !!

We took care of Miss Daughter this morning : she went to the hairdresser and then, had a doctor appointment. I was worried about her cough, especially now that our cat doesn't sleep with her anymore (I will tell you more about our cat, in a few moments). She gave her an asthma treatment for a week. It should help her hopefully get a good night sleep (and me too) but I am seriously freaking out about that !! Miss Daughter, an asthmatic child...

About our cat, now. I feel quite better so I guess it's time I spread the (sad) news. Our cat got really sick last September and it was like a stomach bug that we couldn't cure. It was tough giving her the medicine (yucky ones, BTW) and she couldn't hold any food. After 24 hours, I brought her back to the vet and they kept her for 36 hours with an (intravenous) to rehydrate and feed her. After that, she was ok.

A few days before last week-end, she started leaving food in her plate. She is always pretty hungry so I noticed it. During the week-end, she barely ate, I didn't like it. I hold her on Monday in my arms and I was shocked by her weight. It was like nothing. I ran to the vet, we made x-rays. There was a couple of bad spots, the vet wanted to make an ultra-sound to check on those dark spots....Tumor in her (intestines)...

Next morning, I am back at the vet clinic with my dear friend. Last night, I explained to her how bad it was (even if we didn't how yet exactly how bad it was) and what were our options. I didn't want to say goodbye to her because I felt terrible. I even let her slept where she wanted. I couldn't imagine it was her last night with us.

45 minutes after leaving her, the vet called me. The tumor is huge, 2 inches * 3 inches. Only 2 options : not waking her up, letting her rest or taking a (slight) chance and trying to remove the tumor. It could spread again, she could only have a few months left and she could also not survive the operation : "30%", he told me. How can you possibly have to face something like that suddenly ? I decided to go for it.

At 12:30, she's fine and recovering. At 5, we visit her with the kids. She was alert and screamed to me her discomfort (or something else ?). We talked with her and pet her for a long time. We were supposed to see her next morning.

At 5:30 the next morning, something woke me up. My black sweater on the bed made me think of her. Is that a sign of something or did I just get enough sleep ? I had breakfast and went back to bed. At 7:49, my cell phone rung, the vet "I am sorry but I think she's passing away". I quickly got dressed and made the 8 minute-ride as fast as I could. I ran in the streets hoping she would wait for me. I missed her , 4 minutes. She is gone, for real, my sweet little furry friend of 13 hectic years. She left us on Valentine's day.

It's only now that I feel not too bad. The following days were so dark. I felt really sad, crying a lot, angry and devastated. I never thought I would react that intense.

Miss Daughter was also very sad, she cried with me the first days. Mister Son is too young but I guess he knows what happened. Since then, he's been pretty much cranky. I don't think he fully understood the concept of death but he does know that he won't see her anymore. Miss Daughter worries me : she keeps using the words "death" or " he's dead" or "I'll be dead" all the time for pretty much anything. She's been doing that for 2 weeks or so. The day our cat died, she had a lot of questions like "where is she now ?", "can we go visit her over there ?", "can we bring her back ?", etc.
There was a poster on the doctor's door this morning about (orthoptie) with a drawing of a kid with a patch on his eye. Mister Son asked "what's that ?" and Miss Daughter answered right away : "it's a kid who's going to die". The doctor said "sure, that's it". I was shocked. Maybe I am overeacting ? Maybe she is just trying to attract my attention ?
I talked about it in the car but I am not I should have. I explained that death wasn't something to make fun of it. Because it's serious, because it has to do with other people sadness. She has a friend at school who lost her mother so I told her "do you think she would be happy if you talk like that in front of her". I made my point but I am not sure I handled this "case" the right way.
What do you think ?
